Say NO to camouflage, misuses of "good" and "well" & man thighs.

Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty has always been my favorite campaign and Ogilvy in Australia just released its newest installment. Potentially negative ads on the side of Facebook are replaced with positive ones created by Dove. Check out Business Insider’s article about this project.
I just adore Dove’s commercials that address the unattainable goals and expectations pop culture places on women in our society.

Mike Wallace, the CBS reporter who became one of the nation’s best-known broadcast journalists as an interrogator of the famous and infamous on “60 Minutes,” died on Saturday. He was 93. A reporter with the presence of a performer, Mr. Wallace went head to head with chiefs of state, celebrities and con artists for more than 50 years, telling the New York Times that he lived for the moment when “you forget the lights, the cameras, everything else, and you’re really talking to each other.” (Photo: Bebeto Mathews / AP via the Times)
I won’t call it a career highlight — because the circumstances were so awful, so tragic, and so historic — but I’ll never forget the first and only time I answered my cell phone and found myself talking to Mike Wallace.
Not a producer; not an assistant. Mike Wallace. A journalist, always.
Rest in peace, sir.

Tigers demolish the Red Sox, 10-0. It was a beautiful thing to watch.
Plus, our seats were excellent. Being front row of the Tiger Den right behind Detroit’s dugout got us big padded wooden chairs, in-seat service, access to the the Tiger Den and Tiger Lounge … and most importantly an AWESOME view of the game.
A special shout out to the best friend/best friend’s parents that got us the tickets.
Levi Bentley Cuddlekins Sullenger

Meet Levi Bentley Cuddlekins Sullenger, our nine-month-old puppy we’ve had for a little over a month now.
Before living the spoiled and fabulous life at the Sullenger palace, Levi Bentley Cuddlekins was a stray that roamed the rough streets of Columbus, Ohio. After being taken by animal control, he was scheduled to be killed. He was rescued only 15 minutes before they planned to euthanize him. The rest is history.
Levi Bentley Cuddlekins has traded his life on the street for a more relaxed one of living with six crazy people. His hobbies include eating my tennis shoes, eating my flats, eating my boots, eating my wedges, eating my gloves, eating my hats, eating my pillow pet and occasionally eating his poop (We’re working on that last one…). He also enjoys walks at the park, swatting people in the face with his giant paws and sleeping belly-up on my lap like an infant.
So there you have it. My dog/horse has mad street cred.
BRILLIANT COMMERCIAL.
Reasons why? Here’s my top 10:
1. Nike takes their own twist on the common practice of using indie/alternative songs to heighten interest. With their own catchy tune, the number of online searches for Nike will sky-rocket.
2. The severe contrast of her running environment vs. his. In her Nike Free’s, she is running alone on a clean, beautiful beach and through green landscaping. He is running through the dirty, packed streets.
3. The difference between Nike Free’s and any other running shoe is “night and day.” (She’s in daylight, he’s running in darkness — obviously)
4. I have NEVER had one commercial take up virtually an entire commercial break. If if I wasn’t interested in the ad in the first place, I still would have watched just to see what happened. It’s all about breaking out the monotony of the average commercial.
5. Her outfit was GRAND.
6. I assume Wieden + Kennedy was behind this. I admire the long, successful relationship between their agency and Nike. Not only that, but all of W+K’s work is so intriguing.
7. PASTELS PASTELS PASTELS. What a great color palette. Pinks, Purples, MINT, yellows … need I say more?
8. Nike girl has the magic ability to a) Not sweat, b) eat ice cream, run & not vomit and c) smile and sing. He unfortunately fails in every way.
9. The brand of Nike Running is unbelievably clear and strong throughout the whole commercial. Even if you had missed the beginning or only caught a few seconds of it, Nike made sure you knew it was about them. There weren’t cluttered messages, other brands featured, irrelevant images, etc. The two words I took away were Nike and Running.
10. Subtle humor was used appropriately. It wasn’t overly cheesy, but it wasn’t completely boring and serious. Good balance.
Bonus Reason: THOSE SHOES ARE BEAUTIFUL. I NEED THEM NOW. After watching that commercial, all I can think about is returning my new New Balance shoes and getting a pair of Nike Free 3+. AGAIN, THOSE SHOES ARE BEAUTIFUL.

Shocking Religious Advertisements
There are … interesting? … different? … funny? … offensive?
I’m really not quite sure yet.
Well, it’s over. Today is the series finale of One Tree Hill. Nine seasons of my life have been spent in Tree Hill and what a great place it is. Granted, seasons seven and eight weren’t the best, but that doesn’t change my love for the stories that were told on that show. Sidenote: If I could be any actress, I would choose Sophia Bush.
“At this moment there are 6,470,818,671 people in the world. Some are running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day. Others are just now facing the truth. Some are evil men, at war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil. Six billion people in the world, six billion souls. And sometimes… all you need is one.”

Song of the day:
NEW YORK CITY — Among Savages
New York City where all your girls are pretty
All your men are running from somewhere making a name for themselves
Are you running from something or did you come from nothing?
Are you testing the Lord with the cards that you’ve been dealt ?
Where do you find peace in the middle of the city
Hard enough to find a friend when everyone’s starting over again
I feel like a child in a world that seems shapeless
When I am most afraid is when I get sucked back in
Yeah, you came here with nothing and your leaving with the same
Sometimes the road that you were walking on is going the wrong way
Just come as you are when you leave you will be changed
Everyday is a gift, everyday is a gift and it’s all slipping away
Now if you leave will you feel defeated?
Cause you didn’t take from the city as much as the city took from you
What if you’d stayed? What if you’d done what you were thinking?
I’d rather you give up on life in the city than giving up on life tooIt must be hard to live in the midst of all those buildings
Where the changing of the wind don’t seem a miracle at all
And by the hands of man it’s a maze of bad habits
Where the rabbit in the hat is just a train in the fog
Yeah, you came here with nothing and your leaving with the same
Sometimes the road that you were walking on is going the wrong way
Just come as you are when you leave you will be changed
Everyday is a gift, everyday is a gift and it’s all slipping away
Follow your dreams but beware of the illusions
You won’t feel the void in your heart with a bank statement and a car
What is it worth, what is it worth? Have you given up on freedom?
You spent your life earning the keys to set you free when you were free all along
New York City, where all your girls are pretty
All your men are running from somewhere making a name for themselves
Are you running from something or did you come from nothing?
Are you testing the Lord with the cards that you’ve been dealt?
Client: Hello, can I speak to your Managing Director?
Me: I am the Managing Director. Can I help?
Client: No, I want to speak to the person in charge.
Me: I am in charge. Can I help?
Client: Haha, a woman? I doubt it.
He hangs up
